When branching a guide you are giving the end-user the option to switch context to a related task. This can be useful when directing users to prerequisites e.g. You cannot sell a product until you have products in your system and therefore may want to give the user an option to go and create a new product first.
To branch a guide, follow these simple steps:
- Click on a guide to start the guide to be branched
- Once the guide has started you can either edit an existing step or create a new step for the branch option tooltip
- The content of the tooltip will be used in the link for the new branch
- Once you are happy with the step content, click the “Branching” menu item from the left hand side
- Select a guide to branch to from the “Branch to Guide” drop-down list
- Optional – If you would like the user to return to the original guide, you can select a step to return to using the “Return to step” dropdown
- Click “Save”
- Once you have saved, you will notice that the step will now have turned into a user navigation option
